The parish council had received correspondence from Northumberland County Council and Berwick Preservation Trust and members agreed there was goodwill on all sides. The councils continue to look for ways to raise the funds to repair the bridge and retain the bridge for vehicle use, as well as by pedestrians.

Meanwhile, members were told that Northumberland County Council is still trying to get a developer for the former school site. They agreed to write to the county council’s property department and ask if they are actively trying to find a purchaser for the site. The chairman informed the meeting that he has replaced the padlock and chain on the gate to the site.

The parish council has also repeated its desire for faster broadband to be delivered to residents and businesses in the area. They would write again to John Cooper at the county council on the matter.
