Coldstream Pipe Band are celebrating 80 years of pipe and drums in a weekend of activities and performances between May 26 and 29.
Appearing with the band over the weekend will be Brymbo Male Choir from Wrexham in North Wales who will also sing in Coldstream Parish Church on Sunday morning.
The pipe band played at the choir’s 50th anniversary in Wales in 2009 and is delighted the choir is returning the compliment.
Harmonie Municipale d’Origny-en-Thierache, an orchestral group from Mondrepuis in northern France who played hosts to the pipe band at a Cheese Fair in 2009 are also joining the celebrations.
Also appearing over the weekend will be the Old Coldstream Corps of Drums who are well known to the people of Coldstream having performed at many Civic Week celebrations.
Pipe Major Bell said: “We warmly welcome all our friends to Coldstream for this celebration weekend.”
Speaking about previous members he added: “Without the dedication of all those members over the years, Coldstream Pipe Band would not be here today.
“We would be pleased to have the company of previous members in Henderson Park on Sunday afternoon.
The highlight of the weekend will be a concert in the Community Centre starting at 7pm, during which Coldstream Pipe Band will hand over a set of side drums and a base drum to the Old Coldstream Corps of Drums.
