The club house that has been run by Eyemouth Golf Club is under new management.
Eyemouth Golf Club committee gave up the lease on the Scottish Borders Council owned building earlier this year and the council has now confirmed that a temporary arrangement is in place for now, while a more permanent agreement is reached.
Scottish Borders Council spokesperson confirmed this week: “The council is in the process of concluding the lease but in the interim period it has permitted access to the preferred bidder to allow current catering commitments to be honoured and a full service provided for members and visitors.”
George and Heather Aitchison ran the club house catering for over 13 years, until last year when it was taken in-house. But a year later the golf club has relinquished its lease on the entire building, and Heather and George are now back running the catering, with a view to taking over the lease of the whole building in the long term.
“We are really pleased to be back,” said George.
“It was something we didn’t see happening so soon but when we heard that the club had terminated their lease we felt we must at least try and get back to what was our second home for so many years.”
The Aitchisons opened the doors to the public on May 30 and George added: “We must take this opportunity to thank our loyal customers and friends who followed us up to Coldingham and have been a great support.
“We now plan to make an even better experience for our customers as we will be doing evening meals, Thursday through to Sunday.”
If George and Heather take over the lease of the whole building it is likely that the facilities used by golfers will be sub-let to Eyemouth Golf Club.
