A YEAR that started with lighting the stage for a worldwide superstar has just taken another interesting turn for Universal Fibre Optics after they were invited to exhibit at an event in Coldstream’s twin town of Bennecourt this week.
Back in February, millions of TV viewers saw a fibre optic curtain made by the Coldstream firm on stage with Rihanna at the 2011 Brit Awards and their work has also caught the attention of Mayor Didier Dumont of Bennecourt who asked UFO to attend the Mantes Le Jolie Expo which starts today (Thursday) in the Yvelines region of France.
The expo is a major event in the region’s annual calendar, regularly attracting up to 17,500 visitors and UFO’s invite came about after Mayor Dumont visited their factory during Coldtream Civic Week. and expressed a strong desire to further develop commercial as well as cultural ties between the two towns.
To display their lighting products to full effect, UFO have purchased a large articulated show trailer, which over the last week has been transformed from a standard box trailer into an exciting lighting display complete with working products and demonstration units as well as five screens showing off the company’s previous work.
The show trailer is being driven to France by David Carmichael and at the expo, Ian Gibson, the companies’ sales manager will be on hand to demonstrate products and explain the benefits of fibre optic lighting to the many visitors that the spectacular trailer is sure to attract.
This is only the first of many trips for the vehicle.
Soon after its return from France it will be heading even further afield – to the USA - where it can continue to show what fibre optic lighting can really achieve.
Speaking about the trailer’s transformation and the invite to Bennecourt, Rob Bowey, managing director of Universal Fibre Optics commented: “I am very proud of the dedicated workforce we have at UFO.
“They have put a lot of hard work into making this show trailer that the whole of Coldstream can be very proud of.
“It is a great honour to be asked by Mayor Dumont to participate in this expo and we are looking forward to showing our world-class products to the people in this region of France.”
