Financial Advisors’ Chirnside move bolsters local community

A FIRM of financial advisors with over 1500 clients has chosen to relocate to Chirnside.

D G Pryde Limited has moved to the Berwickshire town from Linlithgow.

The company was formed in 2005 by Douglas Pryde, who has over 30 years’ experience in the finance sector.

Douglas and his five colleagues have traded as a team since 1992 and have built up a substantial and loyal client base, with people from all over Britain and Europe coming to them for advice with money.

They offer advice on pre- and post-retirement planning, as well as investments, tax planning and trusts.

The company has moved into premises in Chirnside’s New Whitehall House.

Director Alan Ellis said: “It’s a superb location for us, with state of the art, purpose built offices, fully equipped with all mod cons.”

Consultant Kenneth Edmond feels that the company’s new location perfectly signifies a new phase in financial advice, especially given the stress caused to such services by the recent Retail Distribution Review .

“The RDR came into play at the end of 2012,” he said, “and effectively meant harder exams for financial advisors. Many who felt they couldn’t reach the new level (Diploma Level 4) were forced into either early retirement or other business sectors.

“Myself, Alan Ellis and Douglas Pryde himself have all passed the new exams, so we are fully regulated.

“We are totally independent and are directly authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.”

Kenneth stressed that the business is keen to engage with the local community, and would be looking to arrange ‘get to know you’ events in the near future.

“It’s important that local people know that we are here and the services they may require are on their doorstep,” he said.
