Scottish Borders Council was nominated this week for an Innovation in Procurement accolade.
SBC have been nominated as one of only five finalists in the category at the national MJ Local Government Acievement Awards.
The award judges will consider aspects of procurement ranging from bulk buying of products through to negotiating strategic contracts.
SBC was recognised for a procurement approach which put people with learning disabilities at the heart of designing the way day services are delivered.
The council is the only Scottish finalist in this category.
The MJ awards cover a wide variety of local government services including adult care, children’s services, finance, legal, infrastructure and public health.
From the finalists in each category a winner, and in some cases ‘highly commended’ organisations as well, will be announced at the Hilton, Park Lane in London on June 18.
