Speaking in the Scottish Parliament local MSP John Lamont has called for investment in the Borders cycling network.
He said: “While cities often see large amounts invested to improve cycle networks, little is done in rural areas such as the Borders and it is about time the situation changed.
“Unfortunately many are being put off by the dangerous environments on our roads. We need to see investment in a cycling network in the Borders. By converting old rail lines and building new cycle routes we can improve safety and encourage more people to take up this hobby.”
