This year’s 500th anniversary events that marked the 1513 Battle of Flodden have been captured by a group of youngsters in a booklet and DVD.
Seven youngsters from north Northumberland and the Scottish Borders have captured the poetry, prose, painting, photography and video of the past year’s events that have stirred hearts across the border.
Anna Dakin, artist and a member of the team, said: “These were enormously moving events and it was both hard work and inspirational for those of us involved. We attended services and exhibitions, as well as the main events – on the day itself - September 9,and the wonderful service of Commemoration on October 10.”
Frank Mansfield, a board member of Flodden 1513 and a BBC journalist for over 30 years, worked with the team to produce the booklet and DVD.
He said:“There was a huge number and variety of events and projects in 2013, delivered by a wide spectrum of individuals and organisations. The publication aims to reflect the flavour of these events while not even attempting to be comprehensive.
Youngsters involved: David Ayre; Anna Dakin; Alistair Herd; Emily Lerpiniere; Jack Robertson; Joe Sanders; Nathaniel Williams.
