The award means that the organisation is deemed to be ‘excellent’ as an employer and in offering services to all its customers.

Trustees and staff are understandably delighted to receive this acknowledgement of their hard work and commitment to local people.

As part of their assessment for the Best Companies to Work For accreditation, employees were asked a series of in depth questions which analysed their attitude to their employer and their approach to customers.

Little Reivers Childcare in Duns is operated by Seton Care and the staff there were involved in the surveys.

“This is the first year we have taken part in this prestigious award” said Helen Forsyth, Chief Executive of BHA Group.

“We had no idea what to expect. We can use the findings from the survey to work on continually improving what we do and getting better. We are thrilled to find out that we are deemed excellent. Now our ambition is to be ‘outstanding’!”

BHA were encouraged to enter into the Best Companies to Work For scheme by their sister organisation Clyde Valley Housing Association.

In June 2011 the two chief executives, Helen Forsyth and Tom Barclay, swapped jobs for a week to learn more about what they do differently and how they could do things better. Clyde Valley was number 5 in the top 100 last year and number 15 this year. BHA is keen to join them in the ‘3 star’ status rankings.

“I am very proud of all the staff at Berwickshire Housing and Seton Care including Little Reivers,” said Ian Lindley the Acting Convener of BHA group.

“It shows that the organisation is a happy and motivated one and with a strong commitment to its goals and is keen to improve and learn. We look forward to doing even better next year!”
