BARK news

A HUGE thank you everyone who supported our Christmas Fundraising Events throughout November and December culminating in our Christmas Fair and the drawing of our Christmas Raffle. A tremendous total of nearly £6,000 was raised.

Thank you to all our volunteers who ran and organised these events and to Asda, Aldi, Homebase, Marks & Spencer, Morrisons and numerous Pets at Home stores for allowing us to sell our raffle tickets in their stores and to all their staff for their support and kindness show to us. We will also be bag packing at Marks & Spencer, Tweedmouth, this Saturday and Sunday, we hope our volunteers will help make your Christmas shopping that little bit less stressful.

We very much appreciate all the extra food being donated into our collection bin at Morrisons. Throughout the year donations into this bin feed the majority of the animals in kennels. We only need to buy the odd bit of specialist or sensitive food. We have also just take a large delivery of dry dog food from Pets at Home, so for the moment if you are thinking of making a food donation we would really appreciate wet (tinned) dog or cat food and particularly Chappie for our delicate tummied dogs.

We reported last week about a couple of cats that were dumped in Alnwick in a carrier bag. No news on who did it I’m afraid. This week more abandoned animals arrived in the shape of Sandy the hamster and Jeremy the cockatiel. These two were left in an abandoned house. We don’t think they had been left too long but sadly the cockatiel is in terrible condition. It has now received much needed veterinary treatment and hopefully over the next couple of months his condition will start to improve.

The kennels will have staff in all over the holiday period, if you have an animal in need please leave a message on our phone and someone will pick it up and get back to you.
