Eyemouth Museum’s Auld Kirk tower is about to undergo a £16,697 facelift after a recent inspection found it to be in a dangerous condition, resulting in it being fenced off as a safety measure.

Last week Scottish Borders Council’s executive agreed a grant of £11,247 towards the project which will see the weather vane re-instated and repair work to the stone work and domed roof carried out. A new clock face will also be installed while the scaffolding is in place.
