Accolades for Greenvale at fruit and vegetable awards

The inaugural UK Fruit and Vegetable Awards have seen successes across five categories for Greenvale who have a plant at Duns.

Greenvale was voted ‘Potato Grower of the Year’ for their wide-ranging commitment to growers, staff and the environment andtheir longest serving employee, Moira Henderson, was voted ‘Lea Valley Growers Association Unsung Hero’ in recognition of the 42 years she has worked at Greenvale’s Duns plant.

Greenvale was voted runner-up in the ‘Excellence in HR Training and Recruitment’ category, recognising their comprehensive graduate and apprentice training schemes.

The company was also voted runner-up in the ‘Charitable Initiative Category’ for their Bees project at Burrelton which has seen employees working to support the Scottish bee population through a beekeeping club and sale of the resulting honey.

Voted in second place in the ‘New Face Category’, was Greenvale’s technical manager Laura Drew, who has brought fresh and innovative thinking to the development of Greenvale’s business.

Commenting on the company success at the awards, Tracey Mattock, Greenvale’s marketing manager, said: “We believe that investment in people – our employees, growers and suppliers – is at the heart of a successful business.
