Patient waiting times in A&E departments across Scotland reduced during April and remained steady for the week ending May 24.

NHS Borders figures are better than the national average - “We saw 97.6% of people within four hours of attending A&E at the BGH during the last week” said a spokesperson.

Health Secretary Shona Robison said: “A&E performance is remaining steady and the monthly figure has improved by nearly six percentage points since January.

“Weekly performance has remained stable with 92 per cent of patients being seen, treated and discharged or admitted within four hours. Long waits over eight hours have significantly lessened by over 75 per cent since weekly reporting began in February.

A new six essential actions approach to improving unscheduled care was introduced last month and national and local teams will strive to make further improvements over the summer period.
