Police have appealed for witnesses after an 80-year-old man was assaulted during a row between two dog owners in Coldstream.
The incident happened on Tuesday, August 16, on the town’s High Street at around 1pm.
The 80-year-old was walking his Border terrier when it was approached by a Labrador which he tried to push away. The Labrador owner arrived and during an altercation between the two the pensioner was pushed and fell onto a parked car.
PC Fraser Mortimer said: “This was an appalling incident which could have resulted in a very serious injury for the man who was very shaken but fortunately only slightly hurt.
“This was a busy time on the High Street and I’d urge anyone who saw what happened to come forward especially the people who helped the man after he fell.”
The suspect has been described as male, in his 40s, around 5ft 7in or 5ft 8in tall, of slim build with messy hair and wearing a T-shirt and trousers.
