The 18th century mansion house will step back in time to the Regency Era, with the romantic fashions of Jane Austen's characters and the elegant steps of the dancers as, once again, the gallery will echo to the strains of early nineteenth century music when a Costume Ball takes place on Saturday, October 16.
Dancers are invited to wear Regency dress but black tie and long gowns are equally acceptable. If the steps are unfamiliar, don't worry, there is a workshop on Saturday afternoon to give everyone a chance to learn them.
On the Sunday afternoon (October 17) The History Wardrobe will be 'Undressing Mr Darcy'. (Almost) everything will be revealed as the costume expert removes the layers and explains the intricacies of Regency gentlemen's dress from the tousled hair to the elegant cravat and hidden secrets of men's corsetry.
After audience members recover from their swoons they can to take a tour of the house, , while Wellington's soldiers, who set up camp in the grounds earlier this year, will return to skirmish in the woods.
