Fire crews battled a large shed fire at Cairncross Farm, outside Reston on Tuesday morning.

Operations Control Edinburgh received a call at 2.15am, reporting a large fire in a shed containing bales of hay.

Fire engines from Eyemouth, Duns, Kelso, Musselburgh, Dunbar and Coldstream were mobilised along with crews from Northumberland.

When crews arrived they were faced with a well-developed fire, which eventually destroyed around 1,000 bales of hay.

Crews worked to prevent the fire spreading to an adjacent shed that contained agricultural fertilizer.

They eventually brought the fire under control at around 4.30am.

Crews remained on the scene until the afternoon of Tuesday December 3, in order to monitor the fire and to carry out damping down operations on the ground surrounding it.
