ALTHOUGH there were protests from parents and pupils Berwickshire County Council agreed by 23 votes to three to the closure of Mellerstain School. They also agreed to seek approval from the Secretary of State to close Ladykirk.

IT is up to residents in villages to try and help themselves by clearing snow off the footpath. The council only have 100 men to clear snow in Berwickshire.

DAYBELL’S Cinematograph Company occupied Chirnside Village Hall on Saturday evening and displayed some very fine films to a delighted audience.

A BERWICKSHIRE medical officer reported five cases of enteric fever in a house in Chirnside. The house was very dirty and until the medical officer was satisfied it had been disinfected satisfactorily the occupant was liable to a penalty of £20.
