Dame Shirley Bassey dazzled onlookers at the Berwickshire Hunt Ball in January 2005.
The star looked splendid in a dress by celebrity couturier Eric Way - which included a tartan silk shirt. But she admitted that she had had to make an impromptu visit to Berwick to pick up some wellies. Bassey, staying as a guest of Alick and Aline Hay at Duns Castle, took lessons in country dancing over the weekend so that she could dance the first reel of the evening, the Dashing White Sergeant, with Lord Adrian Palmer. Her companion Liz Brewer said: “She loved it, and by the end was telling everyone how to do it!”
