Oblo in Harbour Road tasked Elina James of Berwick-Upon-Tweed design studio Decodence to draw up plans which would enable them to serve customers while also ensuring social distancing guidelines are followed.

Elina’s design cut three tables and a total of 12 seats to make more space between the patrons at the award-winning harbour front eatery.

The proposed furniture layout means there is at least one metre distance between tables with life size mannequins set to be employed to help ‘enforce’ the rules.

Oblo owner Peter Giocopazzis said: “We’ve worked with an interior design specialist so we will reopen in a way that is safe, reassuring and fun.

“With Elina’s help, we’re now ready to welcome our customers back and to help them celebrate the start of a return to normal life.

“Oblo has the luxury of space, which gives us the flexibility to adapt to create the best possible dining experience while considering the restrictions.

“We can’t wait to get back on track and are thrilled to consider we will be seeing our clientele, both old and new soon.”

Elina has also advised on opening the Giacopazzi ice-cream parlour, with both establishments set to welcome back customers as per the regulations on Wednesday (July 15).
