Award winning social housing

AFFORDABLE housing developers Whiteadder Ltd are part of the team that won The Scotsman Scottish Homes award for best small social housing development.

Architects Oliver Chapman Associates of Edinburgh, who have worked on local developments with Berwickshire Housing Association, and builders James Swinton and Son of Hawick completed the successful team that converted the former Courier newspaper buildings in Haddington, East Lothian, into 14 affordable houses, plus offices.

The project won the ‘Small Affordable Housing development of the year award’ and was highly commended in the ‘conversion of the year award’ category.

Oliver Chapman Architects, who are once again joining forces with James Swinton and Son and Berwickshire Housing Association on a development of 12 new two person flats on land opposite their award winning Todlaw housing scheme in Duns, are celebrating their latest success.

“We are delighted that our conversion of the former Courier newspaper buildings in Haddington into affordable housing and offices for East Lothian housing Association and Whiteadder developments received two prizes at this years Scottish Home Awards,” said a spokesperson for the company.

“We are totally thrilled to receive this recognition for all the hard work and now Whiteadder Ltd are looking to building on this success,” said Whiteadder Ltd company director Andy Rosher.
