‘Rumble in the Jungle’ is the latest offering from the entertaining troupe, which includes a new cast member.

Long standing Kettlers Cilla and Artie have retired from the stage after 30 years and the Tait Hall show will be newcomer Anya Scot-Rogers’ first performance in the region.

And to say she’s enjoying life in her new role would be a massive understatement.

“It sounds like a huge cliché but it really is a dream job,” she enthused.

“I get paid to run around like a seven year old- who wouldn’t love that?

“And the costumes are absolutely amazing. They go as far as your imagination and the budget will take you!”

Anya is no stranger to life on the road having previously toured Scotland with the Baldy Bane Theatre Company and she said getting the job with Singing Kettle felt like she was joining another family.

“I’m used to the ‘here’s a postcode off you go’ mentality and nothing bonds people quite like travelling around the country together.

“I feel a bit of responsibility coming in the show now that Cilla and Artie have left. It was my fiancé who told me there was a vacancy for Singing Kettle and my response was ‘no Cilla and Artie can’t leave!’

“The Singing Kettle is a real institution and what is nice when talking to people who come along to the shows is that they came along to see it as children and now they’re bringing their kids along.”

If you want to see Anya in action we’ve got two Singing Kettle family prize packs which include a selection of goodies including a family ticket to the June 16 show.
