A freak flood has washed through the area and the locals are guided to the safety of the village hall, the designated Emergency Rest Centre.

Plunged into the Rest Centre’s fraught atmosphere, the evacuees and officials struggle to keep their heads above water as

they grapple with the ever-deepening crisis both outside the Hall – and in!

Will their Emergency Plan be washed away before their very eyes?

Very definitely a comedy, Radpid Departure nonetheless has a serious message; the issues explored in the play – global warming, climate change, renewable energy, rewilding and the impact of flooding – are important matters for everyone and particularly relevant to areas where flooding has had such a devastating impact in recent years.

Rapid Departure immerses cast and audience alike in this most pressing of situations – right up to their necks.

Showing at the MacArts Centre, Galashiels, on March 9, 7pm.

Tickets, which are priced at £9 (£7 concs), are available on 01896 756852, or see
