Exhibition Rag rugs go on show at Coldstream Museum event

COLDSTREAM Museum reopens for the 2011 season on April 1, with a fabulous new temporary exhibition entitled ‘Fabrication’.

Border artists Jane Jackson and Margaret Kenny both make handmade ‘rag rug’ wall hangings and the traditional techniques they use are on display at the exhibition.

Margaret works with recycled fabrics while Jane uses the structural qualities of Harris Tweed and both artists have agreed to give free demonstrations of their work at the museum.

You can come and meet Jane Jackson in the gallery on Saturday, April 9, from 10.30am to 3pm and Margaret Kenny will be in the gallery on Friday, April 15, from 10.30am to 3pm. They are also going to run a ‘rag rugging workshop’ at the museum on Saturday, May 14. In addition to the temporary exhibition programme, Coldstream Museum has fascinating displays on the Coldstream Guards and the history of the town.

The Fabrication exhibition runs until Saturday, May 28.
