At an event earlier this month the Tweed Music Centre introduced a new option for young aspiring musicians- brass tuition.

Chris Dockerill has donated a cornet dedicated to the memory of his late father Bramwell, a Salvation Army bandmaster and Adam Latto and his family also donated a cornet in memory of his late younger brother James, who died in 1980 aged just 39, and his late father.

Spittal engraver Wilf Renton has engraved plates carrying their names which have been attached to the cornets. They have been made available to aspiring brass beginners who don’t own an instrument.

Anyone interested in taking up brass tuition or anyone who would consider a donation towards the TMC can contact either Alison Coates on (01289) 382103 or Adam Latto on (01289) 387439.
