A new exhibition opens at The Granary Gallery in Berwick this weekend by Piotr Piasta, a filmmaker and photographer from Poland, who has been artist in residence in the town for the last six months.

During his residency Piotr has spent time with older people in Berwick, listening to stories about life in the town and using this to inform a series of oral history interviews with older people – many who have lived in Berwick all their life.

The resulting exhibition ‘The Realm of Forgotten Existence’ presents five short films that combine these interviews with archive material from Berwick Record Office and new film footage of Berwick and Northumberland shot by the artist, in an attempt to interpret these stories.

‘The Realm of Forgotten Existence’ opens at the The Granary Gallery on Saturday, May 16.
