Celebrated soprano, Jessica Leary, will give a concert in her home town of Melrose in Melrose Parish Church Hall on October 16 at 7.30pm.
Jessica, who attended Earlston High School and had lead roles in the school musicals Grease and Singing in the Rain, went on to graduate with distinction from the Alexander Gibson Opera Course (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland).
A 2014 Samling Artist and Britten-Pears Young Artist, Jessica was a semi-finalist in the Royal Overseas League Competition and London Bach Singing Competition and went on to win several awards and a full scholarship. She has performed with Scottish Opera, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and with the Bayreuth Festival Opera in Germany.
She is also a keen recitalist, appeared in the 2016 Borders Book Festival and performs regularly for the Concordia Foundation, Live Music Now, and Music in Hospitals
Her accompanist, the celebrated Scottish pianist Christopher Baxter, also with Live Music Now, performs internationally as a soloist and a chamber musician.
The programme, ‘It’s a Grand Night for Singing’, is inspired by popular musicals of the 20th century, with songs by composers ranging from Purcell and Bach to Debussy and Loewe.
