ONE of the UK’s top comedians is coming to Berwick next month.
Michael McIntyre will appear at The Maltings for two nights in May as part of his preparation for a mammoth 58-date tour starting in August.
Following in the footsteps of Lee Evans and Jack Dee, the 36-year-old will road test new material on Berwick audiences in his ‘work in progress’ visit prior to his third and biggest UK arena tour to date.
Arguably the country’s top comedian, with a series of high grossing tours and DVDs, McIntyre was a judge on Britain’s Got Talent last year but quit to concentrate on this year’s tour. He will perform in Berwick on May 20 and 21 to audiences over the age of 14.
Maltings chief executive and artistic director Matthew Rooke, said: “Just when we thought it couldn’t get much better than Jack Dee, Lee Evans, John Bishop and Jason Manford, along comes Michael McIntyre.
“Being selected for his ‘work in progress’ show is proof that The Maltings’ professionalism and intimate size makes it unique and desirable to the A-list comedy circuit.
“It’s also a testament to the Berwick audience’s growing reputation. We are thrilled.”
The floppy-haired, middle-class funny man has become one of the UK’s most popular comedians in recent years, showcasing his observational humour on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow.
