Husband and wife duo, Phil Gault (baritone) and Claire Haslin (piano), will perform a free concert at Paxton House.

The extremely successful free one-hour taster concerts ‘Music at Paxton ... Plus’ are back.

Once again, in conjunction with Live Music Now Scotland and Paxton House, the free concerts start at 2.30pm on Sunday, June 14.

Husband and wife duo Phil Gault (baritone) and Claire Haslin (piano) perform, amongst others, the lovely ‘Dichterliebe’ (A Poet’s Love) song cycle by Schumann.

You can make an afternoon of it with Sunday lunch beforehand in the stables Tearoom or afternoon tea afterwards. Doors open 2pm.

Welsh baritone Phil Gault has performed internationally, in roles ranging from the Count (Il Nozze di Figaro), Dandini (La Cenerentola), and Tarquinius (The Rape of Lucretia), to the eponymous Don Giovanni, King Roger, and even Carmen (in the critically acclaimed all-male CarMen). This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a little Opera for free on a sunny Sunday afternoon – suitable for all the family.

Described as “A singer to watch”, Phil has an excellent voice, strong, even and flexible with a rich tone and an apparently effortless gift of characterisation.

There will be no booking, attendance on a first come first served basis.
