BY the time this paper comes out, Spittal Variety Group will have already given two show-stopping performances of ‘Cinderella’ but don’t worry ... when the clock struck 12 last night it didn’t signal the end of the panto fun - you’ve still got until Sunday to catch it for yourself!

This year is a special one for the local amateur group as it marks their 50th anniversary and they are pulling out all the stops to make sure the they strike gold with ‘Cinderella’. Going for laughs for a 30th year as the resident dame is John Dougall (pictured) but he’s got some competition in the drag stakes from his sinister sibling, played by Michael McLean (also pictured).

Four people who will have already seen ‘Cinderella’ for themselves are our ‘In The Limelight’ competition winners - I Ferrell of Cheswick Farm; M Smith of Berwick; Karen Drummond of Duns; and Mrs Waite of Leitholm - who each bagged themselves a pair of tickets for correctly identifying that Cinders’ best friend is Buttons. Hope you all enjoyed the show!

If you haven’t yet had a ball with SVG yourself you’ve got four more chances - there are shows this evening, January 20, tomorrow night and Saturday night, all starting at 7.15pm.

There are also matinees on Saturday and Saturday, both starting at 2.15pm.
