On a quiet back road near Allanton there is an artistic explosion happening.
Allanbank Arts has been established for over two years and is now expanding and developing its programme.
From September 2013 Allanbank Arts is offering an extensive programme of art and crafts classes for all ages and abilities.
You can still learn to paint and draw there, but also make a ceramic sculpture, a rag rug, a screen print, a felt bag, your own necklace and more.
It all starts with an exhibition of local and national artists at its first Open Exhibition from Friday , August 2-Monday, August 5 from 10am till 5 pm.
The exhibition will showcase an astounding array of work from the best local amateurs to our most respected Borders professionals and even a small Paolozzi sculpture. Most of the work will be for sale.
Go along have some refreshments and enjoy the peaceful surroundings in the unexpected gem of a place on the doorstep between Duns and Allanton.
Gill Walton and Liz Hardy the directors of Allanbank Arts will be on hand to give a warm welcome and show you round the exhibition.
At the same time you could take the opportunity to visit the 20th annual exhibition at Allanbank Mill Steading and see the inspiring work of Charlie Poulsen (sculpture) and Pauline Burbridge (quilts), both internationally renowned artists and just a five minute walk down the same road.
