DUNS extracted revenge over their local rivals with victory over Berwick in East League Division 1.

The home side had lost both previous matches against the Blacks earlier in the season, in the league and Regional Shield, but a late try from scrum-half Stuart Thomson sealed victory this time.

The result leaves Berwick rooted to the bottom of the table with two wins and ten defeats from their 12 games. Duns are in seventh place.

Due to ongoing drainage problems at the Hardens, the match was moved to the new Berwickshire High School.

Gareth Hill kicked two penalties to put Berwick in the driving seat, but Duns then kicked two of their own before being temporarily reduced to 14 men when their flanker was sin-binned.

Despite being a man down, the home side edged ahead with another penalty just before half time to go in at the interval 9-6 ahead.

Duns moved 12-6 ahead with another penalty 15 minutes into the second half, and with the match still hanging in the balance Thomson wrapped up victory with his try five minutes from time.
