A Cockburnspath man has won a competition to design the new strip for Scotland’s international rugby team.

Stuart Gray’s design was selected from an “overwhelming” number of entries and the Scotland rugby team will first wear Stuart’s design in their match against Japan at Murrayfield on November 9.

The new Scotland shirt was described as a “classic reborn” by kit suppliers Macron at the event to launch the new kit at Archerfield Golf Club in East Lothian. The shirt is navy blue with a white collar. The traditional thistle design that featured on the 1990 Grand Slam winning jersey will be subtly embossed on the back.
