Paulin a big hit as he reaches final

Only one fight now stands between Lewis Paulin and the most prestigious title in Scottish amateur boxing.

Paulin showed that he was a serious contender for the Scottish title by winning his semi-final against Tony James of Craigmillar by an impressive margin of 24 points to 10.

Although now facing the competition favourite Charlie Flynn in the final, Paulin is not daunted and will be training hard to be in top form on the night.

Eyemouth will be well represented in the finals as another ex-Eyemouth High School pupil, Katie Atkins, will be fighting for the ladies’ title. Katie was the champion last year and looks strong for a repeat performance.

With the prospect of some excellent boxing, the final competition, to be held at Meadowbank stadium on the evening of Friday, March 30 is likely to be a sell-out.

More details will be published on the Amateur Boxing Scotland website but the advice is likely to be: get there early to avoid disappointment.
