Berwickshire’s amateur darts players have been handed the chance to take on the professionals at a new exhibition being held in Duns for the first time.
Two places for the new Berwickshire Open in August will be up for grabs in qualifier events being held in Duns and Eyemouth.
The two qualifiers will take centre stage at the Berwickshire Open exhibition on August 24, when they will be competing in front of a big crowd at the Volunteer Hall in Duns against four professionals and two wild cards.
Eyemouth’s Gary Anderson is one of the four PDC touring pros to sign up for the exhibition. Michael Smith, Stephen Bunton, Dean Winstanley are the other three.
“The qualifiers will have wee chance of taking a few legs off the professionals, but I would guess that one of the professionals would win it,” said organiser Gordon Peters.
“But it’s the first event of its kind in Berwickshire.
“I go to a lot of Scottish darts exhibitions and I was eventually asked if I would like to try one.
“The organisation has been a success so far and tickets are already selling very well.”
Proceeds from an auction and raffle to be held on the day itself will be donated to Multiple Sclerosis Scotland.
