Positive start to season for Robbie

AFTER the disappointment of having to withdraw from the under 13’s Nationals in April due to a hamstring injury Robbie Patterson (Under 15’s Scottish Badminton Squad Member) has made a very positive start to the new season.

Robbie, who comes from Eyemouth, has had some great results at recent tournaments reaching semi-finals of the level doubles at the under 15’s Midland and Scottish Nationals tournaments.

This weekend saw Robbie travelling to Teeside to compete in an under 15’s Badminton England Silver event. Against some tough English and Scottish opposition Robbie battled on to reach the finals of the singles. He came up against his doubles partner Calum Atterbury. Friendships laid to the side they prepared to do battle. After some top class badminton from both players Robbie came through to win the final 5-15, 19-17, 15-12. The pair then went on to win the level doubles title.

Robbie is now training extremely hard in preparation for representing Scotland at the Victor Junior Olve tournament in Belgium in March 2013.

Robbie receives support from the Berwickshire Sports Council and the Borders Athlete Support Programme. This support is extremely beneficial in helping him develop his badminton.
