Noon gains more experience in Scotland vest

REPRESENTING Scotland, Berwick boxer Lewis Noon lost 20-5 to England’s Brandon Daord in the ABS Home International event in Motherwell.

The 15 year-old Chirnisde Amateur Boxing Club member, competing in the 1997 junior category, was up against a top-class opponent, but the experience will stand him in good stead for the future. Scotland lost the contest 8-7 overall.

Lewis has worked hard to earn his second international contest, travelling regularly to the Forgewood ABC gym in Motherwell for training with the Scotland development squad.

A spokesperson for Chirnside ABC said: “Everyone at Chirnside ABC are proud of this achievement. He’s only turned 15 and will have more opportunities like this.”

After the festive break, Lewis is expected to compete in the Eastern District Championships on January 19 and the ABS Intermediate Championships one week later.
