Berwick and District Motor Club and Border Ecosse Car Club have joined up to promote a new autocross championship for 2012.

Up until this year the Border Autocross Championship has been run on the back of the North East Championship with most of the rounds, except for those held at Kelso and East Ord, being run from Causey Park near Morpeth.

This year the Border Autocross Championship will be based in north Northumberland and the Scottish Borders areas.

The decision by the two clubs was taken due the increase and success of the local drivers who have dominated the entry list and the results over the last few years. The feedback from the drivers also played its part with a new challenge being required and more local based events at different venues.

The exciting new championship kicks off this Sunday at Lucker Farm, south of Belford just off the A1.

The championship has also attracted all the top drivers from the last few years headed by champion for the last three years Branxton’s John Straughan and former champion Mathew Leitch from Norham.

Make a date in your diary for the start of this season’s autocross, the action is not to be missed.
