Youngsters to represent Scotland in Belgium

Two young Berwickshire badminton players have been called up to represent their country in a tournment to be staged in Belgium next year.

Robbie Patterson from Eyemouth (under 15 age group) and Callum Smith from Greenlaw (under 11 age group) have been selected for the Scottish Badminton team which will travel to Belgium in early 2013.

The Scottish team will compete in every age group in the tournament from U11, U13, U15 and U17 in singles, doubles and mixed.

Borders coach Grant Purves said: “This event will be the biggest tournament either of the boys have ever played in with over 18 countries being represented and will be a great experience for them.”
