A large contingent from Chirnside Chasers took part in the Edinburgh Marathon festival.

In glorious sunshine on Saturday eight juniors in total took part in their respective races.

In the 1.5k race two sets of brothers, Jack and Charlie Jones and Daniel and Harris Ross all ran well finishing in the top half of a large field.

In the 3k 11-14 years race four boys finished in the top 30 despite being some of the youngest runners in the field. Rory Williams was fourth in 10.48, Jamie Kinghorn was ninth in 11.24, Ben Reynolds was 13th in 11.55 and Andrew Duff was 29th in 12.40.

Then in the 10k making his debut was Steve Kennedy who thoroughly enjoyed his run breaking 68 minutes.

On Sunday it was an early start for the runners with five taking part in the half marathon and three running the full marathon.

In the half George McMullan was first home for the Chasers in just over 1hr 32. Running new personal bests were Mandy Patterson in 2hrs 12, Nicola Williams 2hrs 17, Stevie Dickson 2hrs 19 and Claire Duff 2hrs 20.

Then in the full 26 mile race Stevie Ross ran a new PB in 3hrs 49, Brenda Dixon completed the course in 4hrs 48 and Leeann Ross ran it in 4hrs 33. A fantastic effort from all the Chirnside Chasers runners over the weekend.

Chirnside Chasers juniors training is for children aged between 5–14 years old meeting at Comrades Park between 6pm and 7pm on a Monday night.

For those adults wanting to get a bit fitter or lose some weight we have a very sociable beginner’s walk/jog group on a Tuesday night starting at 7pm.

The Chasers also have an intermediate running group on a Wednesday night again starting at 7pm. These groups meet at the car park at the Crosshill in the centre of Chirnside and everybody is welcome. You can find more details at ww.chirnsidechasers.org.uk
