Joyce Mark from Eyemouth was on top of the world at the weekend after being crowned World Traithlon age group champion.
The Berwickshire athlete (she is also a member of Berwick Wheelers cycling club) was in outstanding form to win the event which was staged in Hyde Park, London.
This follows on from her successes at European level when she won the Euro age group title in 2012 and 2013.
Coach Henry Gray said: “Joyce has had a remarkable career in the sport of triathlon and duathlon considering she did not start until she was almost 30 years old. “She is truly one of the most outstanding endurance athletes ever to come from Berwickshire.”
Joyce completed the gruelling 750km swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run in an outstanding time of 1hour, 18minutes and 02 seconds.
This meant she finished ahead of former Olympic athlete from the USA, Ellen Hart, with fellow British team mate Jane Bell in third place.
Joyce also won the recent British age group title in Nottingham.
She last won the World Triathlon title in 1999 in Montreal closely followed by the World Duathlon title in 2000 in Calais.
