A spectacular display of Gymnastics for All (GfA) was presented by 42 gymnasts from all over the Borders at the Swan Centre, Berwick on Saturday.

Approximately 100 spectators gathered to watch in awe as an amazing set of skills were demonstrated.

This was the final event of its kind that DCGymnastics (formerly Berwick Gymnastics) will complete from its original base of the Swan Centre, as, after 15 years of contributing to the sporting health of the region from there, the club is moving to its own £100,000 plus Dedicated Gymnastics Centre.

This will be the first of its kind in the region, made possible after receiving considerable financial support from British Gymnastics, backed up by some generous local business support from, for example, Simpsons Malt.

Saturday’svent saw gymnasts, parents/guardians, friends travelling from not just every part of Berwick, but from across the region as gymnasts already attend the club from as far as Alnwick to the south, Greenlaw and Kelso to the west and Dunbar to the north.

Gymnastics for All (GfA) ‘disciplines’ presented at the show included: FreeG (FreeStyle Gymnastics), Women’s Artistic (beam, bars, vault, floor), Tumbling, Team Gym, Sports Acro (pairs) and GymFusion. One of the fantastic aspects of this British Gymnastics Club, is that it is ‘Gymnastics for All’ Club and 42 gymnasts with an age range of five to 49 years old took part.

The GymFusion display alone, which formed the finale to the show, is a great example of the diverse age range involved, with 21 gymnasts presenting a staggering show around the 2015 theme of ‘Legends’. The mighty presence of a dragon sent shivers down the spine of all spectators as gymnasts ‘fought’ it with a superb choreographed display, of considerable gymnastics skill, on a hard gymnastics floor that had been transformed into a stage with lighting and emotionally powerful music.

The next time this show will be presented it will be on a sprung floor at its new Dedicated Gymnastics Centre, impressively fitted out with 100% new equipment (Fast Track, Tumble Track, Trampoline, Sprung Floor, Asymmetric Bars, Beams etc.), contemporary in its design, creative in its space/ ime use and seriously ‘Fit for Purpose’.
