Berwick Bandits will be represented by captain Kozza Smith and Robin Aspegren when the Premier League Pairs Championships are held at Somerset on Friday.

The Aussie-Swede partnership will go head to head against riders representing the majority of other PL clubs at the Oak Tree Arena in a meeting which is always one of the highlights of the racing calendar.

The event usually attracts a large crowd as it is staged the night before the British Grand Prix (World Championship round) at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.

Berwick would originally have been represented by Ricky Ashworth and Smith, but the Salford-based rider is currently sidelined after suffering severe concussion in two separate accidents earlier this season.

His replacement in the team, England international Edward Kennett, was signed after the cut-off date and so is ineligible to ride in the competition.

With no racing at Berwick this weekend, the next scheduled home fixture is not until Saturday, June 8, when the Bandits will face Ipswich Witches on Premier League duty.

Prior to that, the Bandits are at Redcar tomorrow, also in the Premier League.
