The Berwickshire Bowling Association League started last Thursday and results from the opening night were:

Eyemouth 5, Chirnside 5; Greenlaw 0, Coldstream 10; Spittal 4, Berwick 6; Tweedmouth 2, Ayton 8; Duns v Gordon - postponed.

Games to be played tonight (Thursday, May 8) are:

Ayton v Greenlaw; Berwick v Eyemouth; Chirnside v Gordon; Coldstream v Duns; Spittal v Tweedmouth.

Ladies singles

The Scottish Ladies Singles qualifiers are being held this weekend.

First round matches are being played at St Boswells on Saturday (May 10) and there is local involvement in the following ties:

Spittal v Chirnside; Hawick v Berwick; Coldstream v Gala Waverley.

Quarter-final ties are also due to be played on Saturday at St Boswells, with the semi-finals playing off at Melrose on Sunday (May 11).

The final will be held at Eyemouth on Sunday, June 22.

Vice president

The Berwickshire Bowling Association has confirmed that Ian Cockburn from Chirnside has been appointed as their new vice-president. Cockburn will assist this year’s president, George Meakin of Tweedmouth.

Next season the 2015 Berwickshire Championships will be played on the Chirnside green.
