Berwick Rotary Club’s Jubilee Trophy went to Henry Gray, the Borders athletics coach, for his long and dedicated service to sport on both sides of the Border.

No mean athlete himself (he won the Powderhall junior mile in two successive years and represented Scotland at cross-country), Henry began coaching at the unusually young age of 16 under the guidance of his father and uncle who were also notable athletes and coaches. During almost 40 years of coaching he has achieved many outstanding successes. His forte is athletics coaching and he has trained many holders of Scottish records

In presenting the trophy Berwick Rotary President Ken Budge praised Henry’s skill and his long and on-going commitment to those he trains.
