The final race of this season’s time trail league was held in fine conditions on what turned out to be the quickest night of the year so far.

All eyes were on new member Chirs Cowe and club old boy Dougie Robertson for the title race, they certainly didn’t disappoint.

Dougie posted an excellent 23.43 ride to take second on time on the night from Andrew Waring who set yet another PB in 23.18 Chris managed to impressively slice over 30 seconds off his PB to come joint third with Doug Slater in 24.28, when all the times were in it was obvious that it was very close.

Chris took the win on handicap and the maximum 10 points which took him to a total of 54 out of a possible 60.

Dougie took nine points for second to take the overall title with 55 points, with Andrew in third on the night and in the title race on 45.

It was even closer than all thought as Dougie took his nine points by just two seconds from Andrew and would have lost the title on countback had he been tied on points with Chris.

That was not to be and Dougie, who had held the lead in the series for the whole season, ran out a deserved overall winner in the closest finish for many years.

The Ladies title was taken by Joyce Mark with new member Emma Jones second and Alison Kerr in third. There were no less than seven PB’s on the night and another good turn-out of 18 riders.

Club members were out in force at the weekend with seven riders participating alongside in the Ken Laidlaw sportive over a very challenging 103 mile course staring in Hawick, a fantastic day was had by all and everyone completed their ride.

This weeks club time trial is the last 10 miler of the season, riders meet on Thursday 6.30 for a 7pm start at Hutton crossroads.
