Berwick raced to their fifth away league win of the season at Redcar, and in doing so set themselves up for a potentially their best ever year.

The Bandits had already won at Workington, Plymouth, Redcar and Glasgow, so this was their second win on Teesside in 2014.

Alex Edberg, drafted in as a replacement for Liam Carr earlier in the week, made his season debut and scored steadily, but it was Steen Jensen, with three wins from four finishes, and reserve Matej Kus, who top-scored on 12 points, who led the charge.

They were backed up in particular by David Bellego and Kevin Doolan, who also both won races.

Aaron Summers was the most consistent rider on show, winning four of out five for the home side, but with Theo Pijper guesting for William Lawson, the remainder of the Bears only managed three wins between them and Bandits led the meeting from heat four onwards after making the initial breakthrough.

After the meeting team manager John Anderson said: “Once again this win showed how much strength in depth we have within the team. Five away wins in the league is fantastic at this stage of the season and sets us up nicely for a push for the play-offs.”
