Quadruple success for Berwick rowers at Cambois

Berwick’s nearest rowing club, Cambois, held their annual regatta at Riverside Park on the River Wansbeck with the racing format being side by side racing over 800m.

The club was well represented, winning four out of the 11 events entered. A good day’s racing was had by all Berwick’s rowers especially as the club managed to put together a mixed eight.

Winning pots were:-

Masters C double sculls – Robin Morrison & Andrew Dickson;

Womens Masters C double sculls – Alison Inglis & Hilary Cairns; Masters G coxless quad sculls – Alan Robertson, Gordon Benton, Iain Boyd Whyte & Ian Smith;

Mixed eight – Andrew Dickson, Robin Morrison, Gordon Benton, Andrew Cairns, Hilary Cairns, Alison Inglis, Elvira Drummond & Lauren Adams.

Other events represented:-

J16 single sculls – Andrew Cairns;

Masters H single sculls – Alan Robertson; Womens Elite single sculls – Elvira Drummond;

Womens IM3 single sculls – Lauren Adams; Masters G double sculls – Gordon Benton & Iain Boyd Whyte;

Elite double sculls – Andrew Dickson & Andrew Cairns;

Womens IM3 double sculls – Lauren Adams & Amy Faragher.

Next event will be the British Masters Rowing Championships at Nottingham on Saturday, June 13. The club will be represented in five events:-

Womens C double sculls - Alison Inglis & Hilary Cairns;

Womens C coxless quadruple sculls - Alison Inglis, Hilary Cairns with Gill Prescott & Helen McMillan from Durham ARC;

H double sculls - Ian Smith & Alan Robertson;

H coxless quadruple sculls - Ian Smith, Alan Robertson, Iain Boyd Whyte & Arthur Wood (Cambois/Berwick);

H single sculls - Arthur Wood (Cambois/Berwick).
