Joyce Mark has been running triathlons since 1991. She trains with Berwick Wheelers Cycling Club and has competed in age-specific events all over the world. Here she answers our questions.

Where do you go when you need to do your cycling training?

I have been a member of the Berwick Wheelers Cycling Club since the early 90’s, winning numerous Championships, most recently Ladies 10 mile TT on 23 May 2013.

I am also the current holder of the Ladies BAR record, which is 2hr 12min 22sec for 10/15/25 miles, that I set in 2012.

I also got new Personal Bests of 24.24 for 10mile (2011) and 1.01.33 for 25mile (2012) racing on my new Cervelo.

What is it like competing locally? What kind of events do you take part in?

I have competed in the Burnmouth Brae race many times and still hold the ladies record of 2min 35secs set in 1996 and repeated in 1998.

Latterly I was the first woman to complete the Multi -Event Challenge ( 5K run, Brae Cycle, Brae Sprint) in a combined time of 25min 16sec in 2002.

What about the swimming aspect of triathlon?

Well, my Swimathon 5k Challenge Personal Best, is 1.10.25 which I back set in 2000.

That won me my age-group at the event run by the homless charity Shelter, and meant an all expenses paid trip down to London to receive my award from Duncan Goodhew and TV star Graham Norton, the Charity’s patron.

Is there anything else at all that you would like to mention?

I would like to say many thanks to my husband, family and friends who have supported me over the years.
