Mumbai tourists to play at Bamburgh

A Mumbai-based cricket team has just flown in to Britain on tour and is to play its first match at Bamburgh Castle Cricket Club at Bamburgh this Friday (5th June) at 2pm.

The team, MC Lions, is made up mostly of players who are members of one of the most prestigious and reputable clubs in Mumbai – the Garware.

The visiting side expressed a wish to play matches at some of the most striking cricket settings and Bamburgh Castle Cricket Club was at the top of their list.

The home side will include players from Alnmouth, Alnwick and Bamburgh Castle cricket clubs.

Whilst on their tour the MC Lions team are also down to play Grange CC at Stockbridge in Edinburgh, Clydesdale CC in Glasgow, Bute CC on the Isle of Bute where the international cricketing superstar and former Sri Lankan test captain, Kumar Sangakkara (nickname ‘Sanga’) signed up this year as its first Associate Member and at Glasgow Accies CC 150th anniversary 6-a-side cricket festival.
