The final hilly time trial of the season delivered very warm and still conditions for the riders near Duns.

Racing on the Duns to Grantshouse Road was fast and furious with no less than nine riders recording personal bests and a club record beating time in the veterans.

It was so fast on the way out that some riders paid for too quick a first half of the race, with the long drag straight after the turn causing tired legs.

Ewan Minty used the night as an extra training session in preparation for his second half of the season, Ewan rode the 25 miles from his home in Dunbar, raced and then rode home again, the miles in his legs certainly didn’t show too much as he set a new veterans club record for the 16 mile course and took the win on the night in 42.04 a 51 second beating of his previous best. Andrew Scorey, came in second with another PB in 42.43 and Brian Lindsay came third on 45.39.

The night before Brian, Adam Fletcher, Doug Slater and Pete Blythe rode in the Barnesbury 10 at Cramlington. In excellent conditions Adam and Doug both beat the 23 minute barrier for the first time with 22.51 and 22.43 rides, Pete did a 25.50, Brian set a 22.28 and was disappointed with his effort!

On Saturday Brian, Adam and Neil Wilson travelled to Thirsk for the Adept Precision 25 mile TT.

All three set new PB’s, Adam having the stand-out ride with a 57:48 breaking the hour for the first time and knocking an astonishing six minutes off his previous best. Brian lowered his by a minute with a 56:49 as did Neil, but both were a little disappointed, especially Neil.
